Classrooms and Technology

Picture
All classroom groups are based in our new school building, which is equipped with new furniture and flexible learning spaces.

Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard that provides innovative and fun strategies for learning. Students also have access to multiple computers and iPads within the classroom so they can efficiently access and utilise multimedia programs, the internet and library software.

Science, Music, German, Art and Library classes are held in the old school building, which incorporates the original 1916 classroom. Each area is has its own specialty equipment to create an optimum learning environment.

Extensive Grounds

The grounds incorporate two separate playgrounds. We have an open-air adventure playground that provides a fun and challenging fitness course for the children. We also have a modern play area sheltered by a fixed-roof that protects students from rain in winter and uv-rays in summer.

Undercover Basketball

Students can now play sport in any weather thanks to the new roof over our basketball court. Basketball continues to be a popular sport at Sassafras Primary, with many students forming teams for Saturday competitions. The new shelter gives them a great opportunity to shoot hoops throughout the week.

Wheelchair Access

Both the playgrounds and school buildings can be accessed by ramps or chair lifts so that students can enjoy the beautiful grounds and have the opportunity to take part in everyday school life.

In addition, students can also hone their ball skills on the undercover basketball court or test their acting abilities in the open-air theatre. For those interested in gardening, a vegetable patch at the bottom of the grounds provides much enjoyment while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. All aspects of the grounds are designed to create a healthy and stimulating outdoor environment for the children.
